A consultant to the broadcast industry in the acquisitions space, James draws on years working for ITV, BritBox and with BBC Studios to create stories that are fun and surprising but have broad appeal. Since turning his hand to screenwriting, he has been able to employ his knowledge of what makes an audience sit up and lean in as well as understanding of what a show needs to do to sell.

James studied at Edinburgh University and Central School of Speech and Drama. ( a bachelor of Engineering but a Master of the Arts). During this time he acted, performed with and led the improv troupe Improverts. In the intervening years he has collaborated with fellow improv chums on the London scene to write and film pilots, written numerous spec scripts, performed stand up and written two novels in the fantasy and sci-fi genres.

His broad tastes take in mainstream classics (favourites are Breaking Bad and Slow Horses) as well as avidly consuming all the British comedies he can get his hands on.

His stories span multiple genres but always, at their heart, feature people who are a bit crap trying to do their best.
